Orders

  • What info do I need to place an order?

    All of our styles are available with non-prescription lenses (for you lucky ducks with perfect vision). We carry clear, blue-light, light-responsive, tinted and polarized lenses. Reading (magnification) glasses can also be ordered without a prescription – you’ll just need to input the magnification you’d like in the checkout process.

    If you’re ordering prescription glasses, you will need a valid prescription (for glasses, not contacts) and your pupillary distance (PD). This is a measure of the distance between your eyes and helps us fit your lenses. This is typically included on your prescription - if it’s not, you’ll need to find out what it is (super easy)!

  • What is Pupillary Distance and how do I find mine?

    You can ask your eye doctor for it, use an online pupillary distance calculator or simply use a ruler in front of the mirror. Pupillary Distance is the distance between your pupils measured in millimeters. For adults, this is usually between 53mm to 74mm. 

  • How do I change or cancel my order?

    Make a mistake or need to change something? Don’t worry! Just contact us. We try to get orders out ASAP, so it might have shipped already, but we’ll find a way to straighten everything out.

  • How do I find my order status?

    We’ll notify you when your order has gone to production and when it has shipped. If you have further questions just give us a shout.

  • Where can I find my tracking info?

    Once an order has shipped, we’ll notify you via email and send you the tracking details.

  • What currency are the prices in?

    If you’re on our US website, the prices are in US dollars. If you are on our Canadian website, the prices are in Canadian dollars.

Prescriptions

  • Do you offer multifocal or progressive glasses?

    Unfortunately, at the moment we only offer single vision prescription and non-prescription eyewear. Multifocal and progressive glasses are coming soon though!

  • How do I enter my prescription?

    In the check out process, you’ll be asked to enter your prescription manually. If you want to buy the glasses and give us your prescription later, that works too.

  • What if I am ordering items with different prescriptions?

    If you want to order multiple pairs with different prescriptions, simply put in a new order for each prescription. Shipping is free so there won’t be any additional handling charges.

Shipping, Returns & Exchanges

  • How much does shipping cost?

    We offer free FedEx 2-day shipping and free return shipping on every order.

  • What is your return policy?

    For all our glasses and accessories, we have a 30-day easy return policy. If you have feedback or suggestions, please let us know. To return or exchange your order, just contact us and we’ll send you a free return shipping label. We’ll process the return and refund within 5 business days of receiving the glasses back.

  • How long does it take to receive my order?

    If we have your complete order info (including your prescription and pupillary distance), we’ll get your order to you in 5-7 business days within North America. We’re so excited to get you your glasses that we really hustle!

  • Where do we ship?

    Currently, we only ship to the U.S. and Canada. Shipping is free with every order.

  • What if my order is damaged, defective, or incorrect?

    Please let us know right away and we'll take care of you!

Insurance and Payments

  • Do you accept insurance or spending accounts?

    Friendly Universe is an out-of-network provider of prescription glasses and prescription sunglasses. You can apply for reimbursement of prescription glasses and/or prescription sunglasses from your insurance provider if your plan allows out-of-network benefits. You can find this info in your vision plan details (most vision plans do). Prescription glasses and prescription sunglasses are also eligible expenses for flexible spending accounts (FSA) and health savings accounts (HSA).

  • What products are eligible under my insurance?

    Most plans cover prescription eyeglasses and/or prescription sunglasses as well as an eye exam. Non-prescription sunglasses, however, cannot be purchased as part of an insurance claim. Your insurance carrier can provide the details of your plan.

  • How do I obtain an itemized receipt?

    A receipt will be attached to your order confirmation email and included with your purchase. If you need another copy, please contact us and we’d be happy to email or send you another.

  • What does your name mean anyways?

    It's taken from a concept Einstein is thought to have posed - that the most important decision we make as humans is if we believe we live in a hostile or friendly universe. We believe that life is for us not against us. We recognize that the universe can be a hostile place a lot of the time, but also that there are so many people working hard to make it friendlier! 

  • Why do you only have 3 frame styles?

    We decided to launch our preview collection with just 3 frame styles that we are really proud of. We have many more frames coming this fall and we can’t wait for you to see them all! There will definitely be something for everyone to love in our first full collection. 

  • What glasses will be good for me personally?
